C. John - Rare and Decorative Carpets, Rugs
and Tapestries
For more than seventy-five years the name of C. John
has been synonymous with the best woven works of art. C.
John carpets, rugs, tapestries and textiles grace
a myriad of homes from the simplest apartments to the grandest
houses of the world.
Our founder, C. John, opened his first showroom
in Henley-on-Thames in 1936. two years later he obtained larger
premises in High Street, Oxford. Then in 1947 the Mayfair
showrooms were established at 70 South Audley Street.
In 1966 he received the accolade of being appointed as supplier
of carpets to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the first in
his field to receive the Royal Warrant. The C. John
tradition continues under my personal directorship.
We offer an expert restoration and cleaning service which
is carried out by our own craftsmen, who combine their great

Our gallery offers a small example
of our personally selected range of items. I hope to have
the pleasure of personally welcoming you to our showrooms
where you may view the items currently available. I am sure
you will enjoy seeing these beautiful artefacts and discussing
their origins.
If you are looking for something particular or to grace a
special room then we can send a selection of images to you
for initial consideration. Please contact
us to discuss how we may be of assistance by telephone
