C. John Gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition “Egomion” of the world-renowned Greek artist Kosts Georgiou from 26 October until 9 November 2017. “Egomion”, curated by Maria Migadi, is part of a long series of solo exhibitions around the world, which present Georgiou’s monumental sculptures and paintings.

The exhibition features 7 sculptures and 15 paintings, all demonstrating the magical, metaphysical and polymorphic world of an artist, whose painting and sculptural work evolve in parallel. Afer Suzhou Museum, one of the most important museums in China, Shaanxi Art Museum and Feizi Gallery in Shanghai, as well as Chicago, Toronto, Biaritz, Bruxelles, Vienna and Athens, the exhibition lands in London.
Kosts Georgiou was born in Thessaloniki in 1956. He was a student of Dimitris Mytaras and Dimosthenis Kokkinidis at the Athens School of Fine Arts and of Peter de Francia at the Royal College of Fine Art, London. He has had over 90 solo exhibitions throughout the world (Musee Abbeye de Neumunster-Luxembourg, 1st Biennale of Thessaloniki-Greece, Kouros Gallery-N.Y., Νiederhauser Gallery-Lausanne, Alla Rogers Gallery – Washington, Barbara Von Stechow GalleryFrankfurt, Τokyo Art Expo 92 etc.) and taken part in over 300 group exhibitions Goulandri Museum -Andros-Greece, Hyogo Museum of Modern Art- Japan, Art Texas 2001, Absolute Americana Museum-Florida-USA etc.), while his works have been auctoned in Bonhams and Sotheby’s in London. Kosts Georgiou was awarded a special prize at the Osaka Triennale in 1993. His paintings have been collected by important museums, foundations, banks, in Greece and abroad. He lives and works in Athens.
